Sie haben Tausende Follower und sogar den blauen Haken: Bei der Bundestagswahl 2025 kamen im deutschen Kontext erstmals auch politische KI-Influencerinnen und Influencer auf.

A short educational resource examining AI-generated political influencers on Instagram. It explains how virtual influencers can be difficult to identify, especially when AI use is not clearly disclosed, and presents the example of the AI-generated account “Larissa Wagt”, whose posts combined synthetic images with political messages and right-wing populist narratives.

Why it matters for ENACT-AI

vThe resource directly addresses AI-generated identities, synthetic media, transparency and political communication on social media. It helps learners understand how AI-generated content can influence political discourse and why users need to critically assess the authenticity, origin and purpose of online profiles.

Learning outcomes

Learners can recognize characteristics of AI-generated influencer profiles, understand why synthetic identities can be difficult to identify, critically examine AI-generated political content, identify the importance of AI disclosure and verification, reflect on how influencers can shape political opinions, and understand the potential implications of AI-generated political communication for democratic discourse.

Suggested activity

Learners examine several social-media influencer profiles and try to determine whether they represent real people, fictional/virtual characters or AI-generated identities. They analyse profile descriptions, images, verification badges, AI labels, posts and sources. Afterwards, they discuss how a synthetic influencer could affect political opinions and create a checklist for identifying and critically evaluating AI-generated political content.
