A comprehensive educator toolkit designed to help young people understand and use the civic possibilities of digital life. It contains five modules — Participate, Investigate, Dialogue, Voice, and Action — with conversation starters, activities, closing reflections, extension activities and teacher background information.
Why it matters for ENACT-AI
Created as a digital civics resource rather than an AI-specific toolkit, it provides excellent foundations for AI literacy. The Investigate module focuses on analysing civic information online and deciding what information can be trusted; Dialogue develops engagement with diverse perspectives; Voice addresses creating/remixing digital content; and Action focuses on civic action. These can be directly connected to AI-generated content, misinformation, algorithmic influence, responsible generative-AI use and AI-supported civic participation.

Learners can: identify civic issues that matter to them; use digital media for civic participation; critically analyse online information; assess whether information can be trusted; engage constructively with diverse perspectives; create and remix digital content responsibly; express their perspectives online; and select appropriate strategies for civic action.
Suggested activity
“Investigate Before You Share: AI & Civic Information.” Students receive several online civic/political posts, including AI-generated or AI-assisted examples. In groups they investigate the source, evidence, author, date, supporting information and possible manipulation. They then discuss whether they would share each item and why. Finally, students create a short “AI-era civic information checklist” for their peers. This builds directly on the toolkit's Investigate and Dialogue modules.
